What can I expect at my a Fit Mommy class?

Workouts are an hour long. The class begins with a 5-10 minute warm up. Next comes the bulk of the work out which is made up of interval runs and circuit strength training. Half of the time we stay at the same location and do a circuit or bootcamp style workout. The other half of the time we do interval running/walking, broken up with fitness stops that incorporate strength endurance building exercises. There will be times at every work out for moms to take their little one(s) out of the stroller to participate in our class. This portion of class is usually in the last 10 minutes of the workout during our core strengthening and stretching portion. During these core exercises we modify for moms who are both expecting and experiencing post partum recovery challenges such as Diastasis Recti (separated abdominal muscles). These workouts are designed specifically for moms and the wear and tear their bodies go through in 9 months of growing, birthing and then caring for our little ones.

How do I register for Fit Mommy?

Your first class is FREE!! So feel free to come check us out without committing. It is helpful if you e-mail Fit Mommy ([email protected]) to let us know you are coming. Then just show up 10 minutes prior to class so we can give you some information. We warm up at our meeting location and often move to a new spot so it is important to be on time. Once you decide that Fit Mommy is a good fit for you, there are a few options for membership plans to best fit your needs.

Is there is sign up fee?

Fit Mommy Charleston does have a one time only sign up fee. This covers insurance and the gear you will need. Once you pay the sign up fee you will receive a Fit Mommy canvas bag with weights, a jump rope, and a Fit Mommy tank top.

How do I purchase a membership pass?

You can either bring cash or check made out to Fit Mommy Charleston LLC to class and pay in person or you can create a profile on our secure online payment program where you will be able to purchase passes and memberships on your own.

What should I bring with me to class?

For your first class all you will need is a yoga mat, a bottle of water, a resistance band and a stroller for your little one(s). Once you decide to join, you will pay the sign up fee and receive your Fit Mommy bag, which you will bring with you to class from then on. If you need a resistance band you can either buy one at a store or purchase one from Fit Mommy for $10.

What if there is poor weather?

When possible we will move class to our indoor location at Seacoast Church in Mount Pleasant for mornings with severe weather conditions. If we are unable to use our indoor location, class will be canceled for heavy rain/thunderstorms and temperatures below 40 degrees. Please check our Facebook Group page for class updates.

What if my child is crying?

The best part of a stroller fitness class is that we are all moms and we are in the same boat as you. We want your kiddos to love Fit Mommy as much as you do. They are your top priority. Tend to your little ones as needed. On days we are moving, we will stop every few minutes for an exercise circuit, so you will be able to catch up with the rest of the group if you need to stay behind. With your welcome packet you will receive a sheet with tips for all different age groups on keeping your little one content in their stroller.

After I have my baby, when can I begin classes?

We ask that you are 6 weeks post partum and your health care provider gives you the go ahead to resume physical activity.

What if I have more than 1 child?

You can bring multiple kiddos with you to workout! Just make sure they each have a seat in a stroller.

Can I attend class while I’m pregnant and before I have children?

Yes! Working out while pregnant has several benefits and is encouraged as long as your health care provider feels it is safe for you and your baby. We would love to have you with us for your prenatal journey. We will modify exercises for your growing belly as needed.

Can I attend class if my children are too old for the stroller?

Of course! We would love to have you and your older children with us. If your child is 4 years of age and older, he/she can do the workout with us. Just make sure your non-stroller child is staying next to you and your stroller at all times for their safety. If under the age of 4, we do ask that he/she stays in the stroller during the work out for everyone’s safety.

If I have a family member or friend visiting from out of town, can I bring them with me?

Yes! You can bring out of town guests, free of charge.
